There are over 150 recreational cabins maintained by the U.S. Forest Service in the Tongass National Forest of Southeast Alaska. Alaska Wilderness Outfitting has put together the basic “Alaska Cabin Outfit” with the traveling outdoor person in mind. We’ve tried to include all housekeeping items necessary for your outdoor enjoyment.

All items are packed in a container especially designed for your convenience and of a size for travel in small aircraft.

Alaska Wilderness Outfitting will dispose of your expended and partial fuel containers as well as any other items you choose not to take home. Please don’t litter.

If you don’t see an item on the list you need, please ask. Over the years, we have acquired various items that people have requested like axes, campfire grills, backpack gear, etc. We don’t keep a large number of these items around, so we don’t list them.
OIL, PROPANE, GAS & FUEL:
Stove oil, propane, white gas and outboard motor fuel is available upon request. We will pick up and deliver the stove oil for $5.00 plus the cost of the fuel with the Alaska Cabin Outfit rental. (A $10.00 charge will be applied without a kit rental.) The container must be returned. We will also pick up and deliver stove and lantern fuel (at your request) for the Alaska Cabin Outfit for the cost of the propane and no service charge with the Alaska Cabin Outfit rental.
KITCHENWARE & DINNERWARE:
Our camping kitchen is set up with 6 place settings. However, due to limitations of stove size, etc., it is really only adequate for 4 people. If you have a large party, please let us know and we will be happy to put together an Alaska Cabin Outfit for a crowd. There will be an additional 50% charge. We have found that our stove griddle makes breakfast hot cakes and group meals easier and quicker. This is just one of our many “additional equipment” items which can be rented. Stove oil, propane, white gas and outboard motor fuel is available upon request.
OPEN FIRE COOKING:
If you desire to cook over an open fire, we will provide a special set of pots and pans, as the ones in the kit are to be used only on the camp stove. If kit pots and pans are used over an open camp fire, there will be an additional service charge.
ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION NEEDS:
Charter vessel transportation to salt water cabins for campers, skiffs or kayaks is available on the M/V Experience One. Advance reservations are necessary.
Cancellation / Refund / Terms & Conditions Policy
- All cancellations must be made in writing via email to avoid miscommunications. You may reach out via phone, but only email cancellations will be honored.
- Deposits (If applicable) are refundable for cancellations 30 days prior to rental date
- Full Refund minus deposit (if applicable) for cancellations 14 days prior to rental date
- No refund for cancellations inside 14 days prior to rental date
- All rentals must be returned undamaged at the end of your rental. Should any item rented be damaged, (i.e. Holes, Dents, Tears, Rips, Missing Parts etc.) you will be charge the cost of repair and if repair is not an option the cost of the item.
- Lost/Stolen/Failure to Return Rental Items/Gear will result in the cost to replace said lost or not returned item/gear
- LIABILITY: You recognize and acknowledge that outdoor activities such as hiking, camping and cooking with fire can be inherently dangerous and unpredictable. Alaskan Aqua Marine Experience Inc., DBA Alaska Wilderness Outfitting is not responsible for any accidents that may arise from your activity or use of our gear, and you hereby agree to indemnify us from any claims, charges or costs arising from your use of our gear or any related activities. While we will provide you gear as described in our product descriptions, we do not expressly or otherwise guarantee or warrant the gear for any specific performance or purpose other than as it is described. If any item of gear malfunctions or otherwise fails to perform its described functions, our maximum liability to you is the rental value paid for the item.
